Rules & Regulations


*We will be using NCAA rules, unless otherwise noted*


GENERAL RULES

  • Two (2) 20-minute halves; running time until last two minutes of each half and the last sixty (60) seconds of the 2nd half after a basket goes through the hoop. The clock will start at the jump ball. Clock will also stop during time-outs, injuries, & referee time-outs.
  • Overtime will last 3 minutes (running time until last sixty (60) seconds); each subsequent overtime will last 3 minutes (stopped time); each team is awarded 1 additional time-out per overtime in addition to their 2nd half time time-outs (if remaining). Team fouls will also roll-over to the overtime period.
  • Teams are permitted 2 time-outs per half. Time-outs that are not used from the 1st half, will NOT roll over to the 2nd half. The ball will NOT advance to mid-court when a team calls a time-out from the opposition's baseline.
  • Teams shoot 1-and-1 on the 7th team foul and 2 shots on the 10th team foul and all fouls thereafter.
  • Players must wear A.T.B. uniforms. A (pre-game) technical foul will be assessed before the game for a player who does not have the proper league jersey. Technical fouls assessed prior to the start of a game will also count towards team fouls and will not result in loss of possession of the ball. Substitutes who enter the game without the proper league jersey will receive a pre-technical foul and their team will lose possession. Captains are responsible for notifying the official before the tip-off if there are players without their uniform(s). Every game will begin with a jump ball.
  • All substitutes must check in at the scorer’s table. Failure to do so may result in a warning. 2nd warning will result to a technical foul.
  • A team may start and finish a game with four (4) players. If a team has four (4) players at the scheduled start time, they must start the game at the scheduled start time, a 5th player can be added once he arrives during a deadball situation.
  • No jewelry is permitted to be worn during the game.
  • All players must wear shorts during league play.  

UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT 

  • There will be a $10.00 technical foul fee that will be assessed to a player/team/bench. This feel must be paid by the following week or the player/team will be suspended. During the playoffs, the $10.00 technical foul fee must be paid when it occurs or the player will not be allowed to re-enter the game.
  • Profanity, vulgarity, taunting, confrontations, and verbal abuse towards players & referees is strictly prohibited. Players may be penalized by the referees with a warning and then a technical foul if the problem continues.
  • The Most Valuable Player Award will weigh heavily on sportsmanship. 
  • Fighting will not be tolerated! Anyone involved in a fight or physical confrontation will be ejected from the game and subject to a one game suspension. The player may also be banned from the league. (at the discretion of the league commissioner)
  • Any other inappropriate behavior will also be subjected to penalization.

MERCY RULE 

  • If a team has a 20 point (or more) lead with less than 1 minute left in the game, the clock will not stop.

DISQUALIFICATION RULE 

  • Players are disqualified after their 5th personal foul.
  • The team may end their game with any amount of players.   

TECHNICAL FOULS

  • All technical fouls will result in the opposing team receiving two (2) foul shots and possession of the ball. 
  • All technical fouls will also count as a personal foul and team foul. Pre-game technical fouls count as a team foul only.
  • If a player receives a 2nd technical foul (except pre-game technical fouls), they will be ejected from the game. Player may be suspended at the discretion of the commissioner and no refunds will be assessed for games missed. 
  • There will be a $10.00 technical foul fee that will be assessed to a player/team/bench. This feel must be paid by the following week or the player/team will be suspended.

FORFEITS

  • Teams can start a game with four (4) players. Teams with less than four (4) players to start a game will forfeit.
  • Teams can end the game with any amount of players. The disqualification rule and mercy rule will come into effect if applicable.
  • Forfeits are strongly discouraged and will weigh heavily in the seedings at playoff time.
  • There will be a $50.00 forfeit that will be assessed. The fee must be paid off by the following week, or the team will be suspended.

 ROSTERS

  • All new players must present a photo ID when arriving at their first game.
  • Rosters can contain up to 10 players (maximum).
  • You may add or drop players until the Thursday of Week 3 at 5 PM sharp.
  • It there is a player being replaced, the new player must be responsible for getting the uniform from the former player.
  • Injury Replacement: If an injury occurs during the season, a player can be replaced, but the new player must play in at least 3 regular season games to be eligible for the playoffs. Doctor's note may be required for verification.
  • Captains must send a notification via email to the commissioner  by Thursday of Week 2, with the player’s full name, team name, email contact, and phone contact.
  • All rosters are final after the Thursday of Week 2. NO EXCEPTIONS 

 PLAYOFFS

  • The top eight (8) teams will make the playoffs.
  • In order to be eligible for the playoffs, each player must play in at least three (3) regular season games.
  • Playoffs scenarios are the following:
  • Game 1: #1 seed vs #8 seed
  • Game 2: #4 seed vs #5 seed
  • Game 3: #2 seed vs #7 seed
  • Game 4: #3 seed vs #6 seed
  • Game 5: Winner of Game 1 vs Winner of Game 2
  • Game 6: Winner of Game 3 vs Winner of Game 4
  • Game 7: Championship Game: Winner of Game 5 vs Winner of Game 6
  • The champions will receive individual trophies & a team trophy.

 PLAYOFF TIEBREAKERS

  • In the event of teams having identical records, the following will be used to break ties. 
  • 1. Teams with the fewest number of forfeits.
  • 2. Win-Loss between head to head competition.
  • 3. Point differential (team with the greatest margin of victory).
  • 4. Point total for all games played during the regular season.
